Osmanthus fragrans (lit. “fragrant osmanthus”), variously known as sweet osmanthus, sweet olive, tea olive, and fragrant olive, is a species native to Asia from the Himalayas through South China (Guizhou, Sichuan and Yunnan), Taiwan, southern Japan and Southeast Asia as far south as Cambodia and Thailand.

Osmanthus Fragrans. The flowers from a small tree of the family Oleaceae (to which also the jasmin and lilac belong) are used in China and Japan as a starting material in the production of a concrète and an absolute.
